I need help picking out a video card!

Recommended Posts

I need some help picking out a video card for my tower chassis.

I'm hoping to get something that will support Direct X 12. I'll also be rendering simple 3D models in the future.

I have plenty of clearance for a card too, so that won't be an issue. I am not planning to upgrade any components either. So that's out of the question.

Processor: Amd A10 6800k

Motherboard: Asus f2a55-m/m11bb/dp_mb

Power Supply: 550watts

OS: Windows 10

Hope you guys can help me out. c:

If you have the money, a 1080 would be ideal.

If you do not feel like spending that much, then a 1070 should be good for what you need.

As for the company, I do not recommend the stock looking cards.

My personal preference is Gigabytes GTX cards.

Although you could go for say a 980ti or something, but I would go with one of the newer cards.

I personally can't choose. :l

The current gtx video card I have cuts out all the time too. Since I always use a higher amount of V ram

I guess i'll go for the 1070 but i'm not sure if it's going to be an overkill in my case.

On another note.

I heard the 1060 was better than the 980 but that's just speculation at the moment. I don't know if it's better to wait for that.

Overkill?

I would recommend getting something quite better than you need.

So in the future you can build around it if need be.

Alright then, Thanks for the help. :3

Making my build future proof does seem like a pretty good idea.

It can depend on:

Money
What you're using it for?
How you're going to use it?
How long do you want to have it?

Is your PC compatible for it?
Can your PC run it without overheating it?
Etc, things you need to look out for.

Almost forgot I made this post..

Here's some some useful links if anyone is snooping around here still.

https://pcpartpicker.com/ - That'll solve compatibility issues

https://www.nowinstock.net/ - Nice price checking website for new video cards

Everything else is depends on your needs
